Welcome to our trail Manager

We are very excited to have our new trail manager, Derek Rossouw join our team. Derek started in the middle of March 2019 and brings with him plenty of enthusiasm and excitment for his new position. He has quickly become an integral part of our team and we are really excited to have him onboard.

Derek is an Overberg local having grown up in Struisbaai and attended school in Bredasdorp. He has always had a love for nature and animals, as well as music. After he matriculated he wasn’t sure what he wanted to study so he took a two year gap where in the first year he got to travel around the country with other young people spreading the word of God through dance and drama. In the second year he worked at Langezandt Fishermen’s Village doing a variety of work. He then started his studies at Stellenbosch University where he did BSC Biodiversity and Ecology which he finished last year. Before he went to study he always thought he would end up working with animals, but it was only in his final year that he gained an appreciation for plants, and became fascinated by the Fynbos biome.

The Fynbos Trail Manager, Derek Rossouw

“I am truly blessed to have this opportunity to work with the Privett family in this amazingly beautiful area, and also to work with Sean who is really an inspiration when it comes to conserving the Fynbos for future generations.”
